MINUTES

RADBURN CITIZENS’ ASSOCIATION MEETING

Date: June 17th 2015

Time: 7:30pm

Location: Grange Hall

Number in attendance 21 headcount (20 signed in):

Quorum was met

WELCOME AND CALL TO ORDER: Jill Davis

Pledge of Allegiance.

Minutes of May 13th and prior meeting minutes were approved.

TREASURER’S REPORT:         Jill Davis

Treasurer report was submitted by Marshall Chandler who was not present.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Jill Davis

Family Day volunteers needed.

The next RCA Meeting is scheduled for Sept 8th 2015.

Trustees Report

 

This report covers two Trustee Meetings.

The Radburn Association is waiting for Landmark to submit its architectural application.

There has been further soil testing on the site.

Regarding the website created by Michael Alania, some members of the Board of Trustees met with the lawyer to send the cease and desist letter to Michael to shut down the website. A discussion was not made with the full board until after the letter was sent out. During the follow up discussion, several board members said that it would be confusing to have multiple websites. The official website created by Bob Glassett is set to be released soon.

The investment committee will meet on June 29th to interview two additional firms about investing the 4M received from Landmark. The committee is comprised of Steve Kiel, Don Morris, Lou Weiss, Stu Hermann, and Ken Kaprelian.

A resident wrote the RCA President an email to present to the Board of Trustees (BOT) concerning one lifeguard caught reading and sleeping while on duty. Resident would like to know if there are email contacts of all board members that can be published to air grievances.

There will be thirteen new benches and 3 repaired benches in the parks. The new benches will be placed under existing lighting. There will be no new benches placed in the gazebo.

There is a high enrollment for tot lot and playgroup this year.

The tennis courts are due to be replaced shortly.

The letter exchange with Ryokuen-Toshi our Japanese counterpart is underway with 4th grade students receiving and sending letters to each other.

Next Board of Trustees open voting meeting is July 20th.

The garden committee did a walk and made observations of areas which need improvement. They will present their findings and pictures to Jill to present at the next BOT meeting. A resident also noted bare spots which need grass plantings and spray paint on the gazebo which needs to be removed.

OLD BUSINESS:

Cornell stated that some of the tree signs have been installed with the remainder to be done by the Girl Scout troop this coming weekend.

NEW BUSINESS:

Cornell created trophies for the winners to be handed out on Family Day.

A resident questioned the projected profit/loss to be made on Family Day.

A motion was unanimously approved:

A resident stated that due to the recent rancor and miscommunications, the citizens of Radburn want an open Town Hall meeting to take place with the full Board of Trustees to be available to discuss current issues. The preferred date is the week of July 20th.

The motion was seconded and approved for Jill to present at the next Board of Trustee Meeting.

Residents request tennis sign ups in order to play with opponents/groups.

Resident requested men’s basketball to be scheduled on weekday evenings.

Resident requested that LED lighting be installed in the park.
