"A private association is essential. To be effective, such an organization should include in its membership all families of the community."--Radburn Designer Clarence Stein, from the "Radburn" chapter in his classic book Toward New Towns For America.

International Festival Covered Dish Dinner a Great Success!

Sixty of our neighbors, friends and family celebrated our diverse backgrounds and enjoyed a fantastic evening of delicious food, music, singing and dancing at the Radburn International Festival Covered Dish Dinner held at the Grange on Saturday March 16.

The Festival included great music and some original scores by June Meyerson, Gennady Grevnin and Anna Grinberg, original poetry by Boris Melomedov, singing by Anna Grinberg, Celeste Mancinelli, Ella Shcherbakova and Igor Yeliseyev and sound by Victor Kazakov, that brought us to our feet and had everyone clapping and singing along. Mike Roney did a fantastic job as our MC for the evening.

With the variety of fabulous food by our talented neighbors, it was a challenge to try them all and still leave room for all the desserts! Truly, there was something for everyone.

An incredible load of thanks are due to Rita and Igor Yeliseyev and Emily Schutz for decorations and organizing the festival, to Suzanne DiGeronimo, Rita and Igor, Emily Schutz for setup, Sue Northrup, Stephanie, Marshall and Luke Chandler and all for cleanup and to Steve Moore for pictures posted on www.radburncitizens.org .

Garage Sale

The Radburn Garage Sale “Treasure Hunt” will be held Saturday April 27 from 9AM to 3PM at your place! No need to lug your things or post signs, we will do all the advertising and provide directions to eager treasure hunters. To participate, you may reserve your listing on our “treasure map” for $10. Make payment by clicking the “Buy now” button on our Calendar/Events page, or mail checks to Radburn Citizens Association, P.O. Box 431, Fair Lawn, NJ 07410.

We are now forming the Family Day Committee. Held the third weekend in July, our 37th annual summer event brings hundreds to our parks for rides, games, food, dinner and dancing, not to forget our 25th annual Egg Toss. Now is your chance to participate and make Family Day better than ever!

In addition to the RCA officers, many volunteers are needed to organize and operate our events. Committees will be announced throughout the year and all are invited to participate. In fact, we cannot do it all with such great success without you, so please come to our meetings and volunteer.

The next quarterly voting meeting of the Radburn Association Board of Trustees will be held Monday, April 1 at 7:30PM in the Grange. A motion by the Citizens’ Association will be made, requesting that the Board of Trustees include an open public comments session at every voting meeting, not limited to the agenda.

While it is the duty of the RCA President to bring matters of concern by the residents to the Board, our citizens often wish to address their concerns directly to the entire Board. When this is not permitted at an open meeting, a disservice is done to both the citizens and the Board because in absence of answers and confidence, there are only questions and doubts that lead to misunderstanding and suspicion.

All residents may attend this important meeting.

In an effort to provide timely announcements, we are updating our email contact list. If you have previously provided an email address which is no longer active, or you wish to have future announcements directed to an alternate address, please use the subscribe and unsubscribe links on the "Contact Us" page at www.radburncitizens.org

Next RCA Meeting

The next Radburn Citizens' regular meeting is called for Wednesday, April 17 at 7:30PM in the Grange clubroom. All residents are invited to participate. You make Radburn a unique neighborhood and a great place to live.

Best regards,

Eric Schutz
